Welcome!
My name is Tim Hoover. I am a highly motivated sourcing, project management and supplier management professional! Over the course of my career, I have earned bachelors degrees in Supply Chain Management and Marketing with Distinction, and a MBA with a focus in Leadership. I also hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, as well as the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification from the Institute for Supply Management. I have held project management leadership positions in both one on the largest privately held companies in the country, as well as in a scaling entrepreneurial company with 30% year of year revenue growth. I have also held procurement leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies, and currently focus my day to day efforts in supplier risk management for an international Fortune 250 Financial Services company. I tell you all of this not to toot my own horn, or brag about my accomplishments, but rather to show you that I have learned a thing or two about business.
You wouldn’t want to read a blog from some random dude that just acted like he knew stuff… at least I wouldn’t!
I have been studying business for 20 plus years, and have made a 10,001 mistakes. I want to share my experiences and knowledge with you to aid you in your own leadership journey. I want to share all the lessons that I have learned (mostly from baby boomers) about the workplace, with a new generation of aspiring leaders, without the same pain and confusion it took me to learn.
One of the biggest mistakes I have made to date was not taking care of myself as I continued to strive for success. I have experienced the affects first hand of building and growing a career at all costs. I traded many things over the years in pursuit of climbing the corporate ladder. In everyone’s life, there are inflection points… Times when you have to take a step back and reevaluate what is important to you. At age 29, I was over-worked, over-stressed, over-weight, and on blood pressure and anxiety medications. To say I was wasn’t taking care of myself would be a a drastic understatement. It was time for a change when I literally fainted from exhaustion one night after leaving the office after 10 pm.
I gave my notice of resignation the next week, and left my 6 figure dream opportunity without another position lined up.
It was literally the most difficult decision I have ever made. However… it gave me time to step back from a company that was growing too quickly and reflect. I re-evaluated my values and my life. I took a good hard look at my priorities, and what was important to me. And then… I started over.
I have since finished grad school, gotten married to my wonderful wife, joined a new company, and have purposefully built balance into every aspect of my life. I am passionate about what I have learned, and I want to share it with all of you.
My personal mission is to help aspiring leaders develop on their leadership journey, while making balance a priority first!
I feel like there are a million business books focused on being an executive, but very limited amounts of content for new and aspiring leaders. I want you to avoid the mistakes I have made, and I want to give you a path to learn all this stuff in a much easier format. I look forward creating tremendous value for you and your career!
Cheers!
Tim
